She was age 50 when she came to Soissons la Montagne to cook for the Saint Soleil group. She was one of the founding members of the celebrated Saint-Soleil community of artists in Soisson-la-Montagne, along with Prospere Pierre-Louis, Dieuseul Paul, Denis Smith, and Levoy Exil. Saint Fleurant was known for her clay sculptures as well as her paintings. She eventually left in 1978, becoming a cook again and painting on the side. She was the mother of Saint-Soleil artists Magda Magloire , Ramphis Magloire and the late Stivenson Magloire . Louisiane St. Fleurant passed away on June 1st, 2005. Payas is predicator of the Baptist Church of Soissons, a church that fights against the "satanic cult of voodoo." Under the influence of the"spirits" and the "voice" of Prosper coming from the "unknown." Payas began to paint and in January 1997; his art is influenced by late noted Saint-Soleil artist, Prospere Pierre-Louis. He presented his first design to Tiga. In 1998 he is one of "the 13 New St Soleil"presented at the French Institute in Haiti, and also exhibited in the World Bank in Washington, DC. Chery started painting while working as a barber. He opened a gas station in the Artibonite Valley and exhibited his art at his place of work. On the advice of his friend Philome Obin, he moved to Port-au-Prince in 1951. He stayed there for one year, returning to the Art Center in Port-au-Prince ten years later. In 1965, he entered the Galerie Issa, where he painted for several years. His works were often reproduced in magazines (Time, Vogue), as well as in art books. He exhibited in London (1969), Spoleto (1970), Modena (1981), New York, Milwaukee, Berlin (1979), Paris (1980, 1988, & 1990). His paintings have been sold through Sotheby’s Auction House in New York. He was inspired by the paintings in the gallery. His studies at the Art Center began in 1978. In 1978 he was included in the show, "Five Vodou Artists" at the Institute Francais in Port-au-Prince. In early 1981 Camy lived near the sea in the Carrefour neighborhood of Port-au-Prince. While preparing a solo show for the Galerie Monnin he disappeared when swimming. He completed his primary school studies at Frere Herve, the Christian Brothers School in St. Marc, in 1958, and continued his education at the Lycee Toussaint Louverture in Port-au-Prince. In 1965, he entered the Academie des Beaux Arts in Port-au-Prince to study sculpture and painting. According to his longtime friend and dealer, Michel Monnin, at this time that Simil began a deep dialogue with Professor Montaguelli who besides teaching him art, also imparted to him “a certain attitude toward art; constancy of effort and the research necessary to find beauty." In his fifth year at the Academy, Simil became an assistant professor, teaching courses in Art History. He also worked with Georges Hector at "Coumbite 67." Around this time he created a seven foot marble sculpture of Christ which was placed at the sacred vodou site, Saut-d'eau, with a commemorative plaque. Simil is an avant-garde intellectual who is interested in many things; He is an accomplished musician; he plays the violin and the slide trombone. By the time he was six years old, both of his parents had died and he was raised, in meager circumstances, by his godmother. By age 14 he was apprenticed to a carpenter and then to a bricklayer but finally he became a house painter. At the end of 1963 he went to work as a houseboy at the German Embassy in Port-au-Prince. Soon after, he did his first painting and showed it to the wife of the Ambassador, Mdme. Malsy-Minsk. Eventually he took his paintings to the Galerie Monnin, with which he was associated in 1973, and rapidly became a favorite of collectors worldwide. He won first prize in the “Masters of the Dew” painting competition in 1978. In the early 1980's Gerard Paul moved to the United States where he eventually stopped painting altogether. At 6 years old, he was introduced to the arts in the small school run by Lucienne Fermathe Simeus, wife of Levoy Exile. This facility was supported by Tiga Art Materials and Maud Robart. In 1973, Onel became an apprentice in the workshop of Exile Levoy, who encouraged him to develop his artistic talents. In 1989, under the leadership of Tiga and having grown up in the sphere of his aunt seamstress, he began moving towards recycling textile art that expanded with the use of sawdust and gluing objects. Onel is one of the few artists who stand out from traditional modes of figurative Movement Saint-Soleil to provide innovative figural forms.
