Payas is predicator of the Baptist Church of Soissons, a church that fights against the "satanic cult of voodoo." Under the influence of the"spirits" and the "voice" of Prosper coming from the "unknown." Payas began to paint and in January 1997; his art is influenced by late noted Saint-Soleil artist, Prospere Pierre-Louis. He presented his first design to Tiga. In 1998 he is one of "the 13 New St Soleil"presented at the French Institute in Haiti, and also exhibited in the World Bank in Washington, DC. From 1945 to 1950, Lazard studied painting and sculpture at the Centre d’ Art. There he studied painting and sculpture under Dewitt Peters, Borno and Mangones. He exhibited in 1945 in Havana, Cuba and also participated in 1946 at the group exhibit held by "Unesco" at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. In 1950 he founded the Foyer des Arts Plastiques with Cedor, Price etc. A year later, in 1951, he received a scholarship and moved to Paris where he studied for two years. In 1953, he moved back to Haiti. From 1953 to 1956 he exhibited at the French Institute in Mexico, the Zegri Gallery in New York and the Condado Beach Hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Luckner is the founder of the "Brochette" Gallery in 1956 with Dieudonne Cedor, Nehemy Jean and Roland Dorcely. He emigrated from Haiti in 1967 to the USA. Luckner Lazard died in 1998. His parents were farmers. Lafortune worked in agriculture until 1958, when he was initiated as a houngan and decorated the outside of his Temple with images of the Lwa. He began formal painting in 1972 upon being given painting materials such as masonite by Pierre Monosiet, Director of the Museum of Haitian Art at the College of St. Pierre. He signed his early paintings "Pont Sonde" and his later ones "St. Marc," where he lives now. Exhibits 2012 Kafou: Haiti, Art and Vodou.
